Going To The Supermarket

from See The Light by Fred Gillen Jr

/

about

Who knew going to the supermarket could be so heavy? I still remember when I was trying to eat on $15 per week. When I'd spend a lot of time going back and forth trying to stretch that $15. During Covid Pandemic it was the opposite. Get in, get out, no time to compare prices...

lyrics

Going To The Supermarket

going to the supermarket
masked and anonymous
stay at least six feet back
or I’ll cough in your direction

trying to find toilet paper
looking for some alcohol
running out of chocolate and coffee
without coffee it will be a long haul
without coffee I’ll bang my head against the wall

going to the supermarket
masked and anonymous
stay at least six feet back
or I’ll cough in your direction

allergy time I can’t help
sneezing in my mask
giving me the stink eye
as I try to find a deal
life in these suburbs has always been surreal
but now with our faces covered
we’re seeing things for real

going to the supermarket
masked and anonymous
stay at least six feet back
or I’ll cough in your direction

luxury problems are luxuries
everybody loves to win
there is enough to go around
isn’t hoarding some kind of sin?
what happened to united we stand?
what happened to divided we fall?
will we stick together
or is it all for me and fuck you all?

going to the supermarket
masked and anonymous
stay at least six feet back
or I might have to kiss you
